WGA Awards 2011

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

Update: Here is Carlock’s acceptance speech:

30 Rock won some gold… or bronze?… or shiny plastic?  I dunno what it’s mad out of… Anywho 30 Rock just took home two statues at the Writers Guild Awards!

First Mr. Robert Carlock won for Episodic Comedy for “When it Rains, it Pours.”  (Matt Hubbard was also nominated in this category for “Anna Howard Shaw Day”.)

Also Jon Haller, 30 Rock’s writing assistant, picked up the prize in the New Media for his work on the NBC.com series “Frank vs. Lutz.”

Unfortuantely 30 Rock lost to Modern Family for Comedy Series, but seeing how the eligibility runs by the calendar year, 30 Rock has to be in the lead for next years awards with the episodes that have aired so far!  Congrats to the writers, you’re the best!

However the 30 Rock cast looked fantastic and had a lot of fun on the red carpet.  Especially the mother to be, Jane Krakwoski.  So here’s a wrap up of 30 Rock at the Golden Globes:

30 Rock picks up DGA Nom

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

30 Rock is nominated in the Television Comedy category for the Directors Guild Awards.  Beth McCarthy Miller is nominated for her work on this season’s “Live Show.”  Her work turning 30 Rock into a multi-cam live format was truly great so the nomination is well deserved.  Much of 30 Rock’s ability to pull off a live show was due to her.

She has some pretty tough competition though…

• Steve Levitan, Modern Family, “Hawaii” (ABC)
• Beth McCarthy Miller, 30 Rock, “Live Show” (NBC)
• Ryan Murphy, Glee, “The Power of Madonna” (FOX)
