Let the Emmy Race Begin!

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

NBC Universal mailed out their For Your Consideration Emmy tapes to voters this past week.  These aren’t official submissions or anything (Ballots come out June 4th!).  But we can see how they’re leaning.  Ausiello posted a full list.

The two episodes of 30 Rock on the tape are:
“Dealbreakers Talk Show #0001″ and “Anna Howard Shaw Day.”

What do you think?  Were those good episodes picks?

Note: These two episodes were just to get the show nominated.  30 Rock must pick out 6 episodes to be on 3 tapes when they are nominated.

Creative Arts Emmys 2009!

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

30 Rock got some gold tonight at the Creative Arts Emmys!  The show won for both outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Comedy Series.  Congrats to the show and everyone involved!

Here’s a list of all the winners.

Also Tina Fey won an Emmy in the Guest Actress category for her portrayal of Sarah Palin on SNL.  She beat out Jennifer Aniston and Elaine Stritch from her own show, but I don’t think anyone could argue she didn’t deserve it.

Video:

The BBC has part of Tina’s Acceptance speech here.

Quotes:

We don’t have the full speech (and we probably won’t until it airs on E!) but here’s some snippets:

“Mrs Palin is an inspiration to working mothers everywhere because she bailed on her job right before Fourth of July weekend. You are living my dream. Thank you, Mrs Palin.”

From Huffington Post:

Accepting her trophy for best guest actress in a comedy, Fey thanked “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels and her parents, “who are lifelong Republicans, for their patience.”

Watch the Palin Spoofs again!  (If you dare relive that election.)

TwitterPic of Tina with her award.  We’ll have more details and pics up later.

The Creative Arts Emmys will air on E! Network on Friday Sep 18th at 1:00 PM.
The Prime Time Emmys are coming next Sunday!

2009 Emmy Tapes

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

I know a few of you already saw this, but just catching up here.

Because of the new format to the Emmys, actors didn’t submit individual tapes to be judged until after they received nominations.  In other words, once nomined nominees then picked a tape to represent themselves that voters will watch to judge.  (Series in the Outstanding Series race get to pick 3 tapes of 2 episodes each for 6 episodes total.)

Here’s what 30 Rock picked out:

Outstanding Comedy Series:
(Voters receive 2 out of the 3 tapes randomlyfor each series.)
Tape 1: “Believe in the Stars” & “Reunion”
Tape 2: “Christmas Special” & “Generalissimo”
Tape 3: “Apollo, Apollo” & “Mama Mia”

Lead Actress:
Tina Fey – “Reunion”

Lead Actor:
Alec Baldwin – “Generalissimo”

Supporting Actress:
Jane Krakowski – “The Ones”

Supporting Actor:
Tracy Morgan – “The Funcooker”
Jack McBrayer – “The Bubble”

Pretty good submissions.  I’ll discuss what I think of them in the comments.  Feel free to do the same.

Here’s a list of most of the submissions in the major categories.  (Thanks Noah.)

Dream Emmy Ballots

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

EW and TWOP released their dream Emmy ballots last week and as expected, 30 Rock made a lot of top 6′s.  Both sited 30 Rock for Best Comedy series and the cast made it as well.

Here’s EW’s Lead Actor/Actress lists, which Tina and Alec both made.  And here’s the supporting race where Tracy and Jane made the cut!

Over at Television Without Pity, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jane Krakowski, Tracy Morgan and Jack McBrayer all made the dream ballots!  I’m glad the supporting actors on 30 Rock are starting to get some attention.  They really deserve nominations!  Hopefully they’ll make it.  (Emmy noms come out July.)
