James “Toofer” Spurlock

Toofer SpurlockName: James “Toofer” Spurlock
Portrayed By:Keith Powell
Occupation:Staff Writer for TGS
Family:Great-Great-Great Grandfather Tobias Spurlock

Likes: Toofer is very fond of his days at Harvard University. Despite the fact that he went to one of the nation’s finest institutions, he also enjoys teaming up with Frank to pull pranks on the almost always paranoid Jenna. And since he is, in fact, a he, he enjoys the occasional glimpse at writer’s room babe, Cerie.

Dislikes: If you asked Tracy or Liz, they would say that Toofer is afraid of black people. Afraid may be going too far, but he does have an aversion to the black stereotypes that Tracy portrays. He, like many others, did not understand that the African American community had started to use the N-word again, as was visibly shocked when he was referred to as that by Tracy.

Personal Life: As previously stated, Toofer is a black guy and a Harvard guy. Hence the name “Toofer”. He is a two for one deal. While attending college, he was part of Harvard’s Signet Society and the only African American in his a cappella group, The Crocodiloes. His side of the office that he shares with Frank is tidy and organized something we would expect from the khaki wearing writer. His heritage was something else he prided himself in, until he discovered (or Frank discovered) that his Great-Great-Great-Grandfather was not an officer for the Union and Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War, but a “Confederate Monster”, meaning he fought for the South and Robert E. Lee.

Quotes:

Toofer: Surely our massive conglomerate parent company could spring for a samovar of coffee.
Frank: Yeah or like a big coffee dispenser.
Toofer: that’s what a samovar is.
Frank: Are there other black nerds, or is it just you and Urkel?”

Tracy: So how are you doing over there, Theo Huckstable?
Toofer: I’m doing good.
Tracy: Nah ah, Superman does good, your doing well. You need to study your grammar, son.
Frank: Wow, that was embarrassing for you

“Drag is a way for Caucasians to immaculate you and make you seem non-threatening. We never would have stooped so low on Black Frasier.”
