Tina Fey Hosts Ad Council Dinner

November 21, 2009

This is why she was asked to host the Oscars.  (And why someday I hope she can!)

Tina Fey hosted the Ad Councils annual dinner this past Wednesday. A YouTube clip of the first 7 minutes of the event have been posted.  In them Tina addresses 30 Rock’s porn parody, in which the same porn star played and Sarah Palin.  She even revisited her impression and gives us a little bit more Fey-lin!  Watch the video below it’s great!

Storytime: I’m in no way politically similar to Palin [but I respect that if you are!] but I saw she was coming to a bookstore 2 minutes from my house. My plan was to go meet her, tell her I loved her on 30 Rock, and give her a hug. So, I wandered down to the store today to get a wrist band so I could meet her tomorrow. [Yes, I got in a line so I could get in a line.] Anyway, I got there and found over 2000 people snaking through the parking lot to get their wrist bands. I got a coffee instead.

    [Love the video btw.]

@Matt Did the Academy really approach her? Hosting the Oscars is really great for her and I’m all aye for it. Also, I think she would do it. I mean, let’s get real, the Palin impression really helped 30 Rock and that’s what Tina is all about. The question now is how soon.

Here’s what Adam Shankman (the producer of next year’s Oscars) said:
Q: We’ve also heard you guys went to Tina Fey and Steve Martin together and Tina said no. Is that true?
A: Once again, it was a really quick discussion and it was mostly about “do you think that could work?”‘ It wasn’t that she turned us down but her work schedule right in that time, she’s writing the last of her shows, and we realized then that it wouldn’t work. But they were so great on the show together (the Oscars last year) and he’d done 30 Rock. Once again there were lots of discussions in there.
